Materials for you to bring: 18” ruler, Pencil or Pigmented marker (Pigma, Copic etc.), a small brush (1/4” flat is best), palette knife, a mixing surface or palette, water container, and ALL your paint - either watercolour, OR acrylic, OR oil. If you can't possibly bring all your colours, bring what you can plus bring a list of all the others.

OPTIONS
The following Workshop information must be submitted for promotional purposes a minimum of 2 weeks prior to Open Studio date.

A) 30 -60 minute demo including question period, on a volunteer basis
B) 30 - 60 minute demo, on a volunteer basis; including questions and group participation where group can try demo techniques on their own with materials supplied by demonstrator, at small cost to group ($1 to $4 each) or demonstrator can request members supply their own and submit list of items needed
C) 1-3 hour workshop including question period, on a volunteer basis
D) 1 -3 hour workshop, on a volunteer basis; including question period and group participation where group can try demo techniques on their own with materials supplied by demonstrator, at small cost to group (up to $6 each) or demonstrator can request members supply their own and submit list of items needed.

All supplies will be available for use.

Students are asked to bring a pair of sharp small scissors, ruler, pencil, paint brushes and paint, paper cutter ( if you have one) and Doubled Sided Tape.

Naomi from North Art Supplies will show you how to make your own one-of-a-kind Holiday cards by using the traditional printing form of lino cut.

Marc will demonstrate his fine detail technique on wildfowl (bird feathers):

I usually layer my graphite drawing in about 4 to 6 layers, starting with a very hard 10H pencil and work my way up to 5B.
I will show how to draw a feather or several in a group such as a piece of wing.

Materials needed would be a small piece of white Illustration board about 8 “ X 12” an eraser and some graphite pencils 6H or 7H, 2H,F, HB, 3B.

Parry Sound artist Marc De Groote has been officially invited to take part in one of Canada’s most prestigious art competitions.

If you have heard the terms "fluid acrylics", "heavy body acrylics" and are having trouble deciding what to buy - this workshop will explore the thick and thin of it. Are you awatercolour painter? Are you an oil painter? Do you want to try something different but keep your same look and techniques? This workshop will show you how acrylic can be all things to all people.

It will be fun, it will be simple, building on techniques you already know.

Make a card, and take a card - make two, take two. Begin your own little collection right here.

Join professional photographer, Rob Stimpson, for an informative session that will shed some of the mystery of digital photography. You will learn how to operate your digital camera more effectively. Starting with a guided tour of buttons, dials and menus, we will look at the various control mechanisms on the camera and learn how each affects the overall operation of the camera. You will learn how to change image format, image resolution, exposure settings, white balance and ISO.

This will be a wet (paint) on dry (paper) project.

I suggest 140 lb cold rolled or even hot rolled paper that has been stretched and taped to prevent curling.

A few brushes but a script or rigger is important.

Participants could prepare by pre-painting parts of the paper with light reds,yellows,blues but in a haphazard manner.

How many times have you asked yourself “How do I make this colour?” Then after experimenting, scratched your head and said “Wow, I sure didn't expect THAT...”

Well, scratch your head no more. Here's the chance to do something you always meant to do, but never got around to... create your own personalized colour mixing chart!

Learn easy colour-mixing tricks to help you mix the right colour every time from your own paint box. Find out which combinations sing, and which ones just make mud. Discover how many wonderful colours you never knew you had!

Materials for you to bring: 18” ruler, Pencil or Pigmented marker (Pigma, Copic etc.), a small brush (1/4” flat is best), palette knife, a mixing surface or palette, water container, and ALL your paint - either watercolour, OR acrylic, OR oil. If you can't possibly bring all your colours, bring what you can plus bring a list of all the others. I'll supply the painting surface.

(Note to oil painters: due to sensitivities, no solvents or alkyd mediums please - I'll be supplying non-toxic brush cleaner.)

Marguerite Taylor will be leading another card making session using heat embossing powders, stamps ( at least 12 stamps or more have been added to the existing collection --many nature scenes.), paints and other embellishments.

All supplies will be available for use.

Students are asked to bring a pair of sharp small scissors, ruler, pencil, small paint brushes, paper cutter ( if you have one) and a glue stick.

Judging from the last card making session the class may run for three hours.

It will take place on Wednesday, March 11
